Cognitive Bias Effect
Decision-making may be influenced by the brain’s path of least resistance. As humans, we have a tendency to follow our own pre-conditioned system of beliefs, which often leads to questionable and flawed decisions. Our human factors training focuses on many of the cognitive biases affecting law enforcement and reduces their negative effect.
De-escalation Techniques
When safe and feasible, and without compromising law enforcement priorities, our training seeks to minimize the need for force during an incident and increase the likelihood of voluntary compliance. We advocate slowing down and stabilizing chaotic situations through proper word choice, volume and body actions.
Safety Breakdown from Intentional Non-Compliance
In aviation, pilots who intentionally violate procedures are two to three times more likely to commit other errors and mismanage threats. Our error prevention training reinforces that simple things do matter, limitations are to be respected and intentional non-compliance can lead to injury and/or death.

Likewise, rapid decision-making is led by the brain’s pattern matching. We teach a “threats first” perspective to reinforce pattern matching and better prepare police officers for their daily duties.
